My Arts Activity:
I enjoy watching anime films and drawing anime characters. For my Arts Award I attended some film production and editing workshops and set out to create an anime music video of my own. I used iMovie on the Macs at Media Hub and edited images to a music track.
My finished film is showing on Youtube and a HubClub DVD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dOMZSzjUXY
Workshops
technical
- choose footage from anime episodes to edit together onto music track
-load music track into imovie
-download episodes
-upload clips into imovie
-finely edit clips to music beats
Creative
I considered:
-speed of images linking to speed changes of music
-speed and furiousity and type of music relating to anime
-heavy rock with fast paced riffs, slow guitar solos using distorted guitar effects, rock drumming and lyrics about heroism and combat
Knowledge
combined cultures - I have combined Japanese animation with European rock music. There is a big rock following in Japan called j-rock but i felt that this did not fit in with the anime as it is quite bouncy and lyrically not so appropriate
B-Going to an arts event
Between The Cracks-a theatre production touring at Haverhill Arts Centre
May 2010
This is the flyer for the eventThis is our interview held at the Hubclub to review and share the production. We added this to the website CB9mediahub.org.uk. which is used to promote Haverhill Arts Centre's youth media project.
I thought the production was very good at portraying someone with borderline personality disorder. I think that it is important to raise awareness about mental health and this is a good way to inform people about what the disorder can be like. The message came across well and I would recommend anyone to go and see this production.
Part c-My hero is Masashi Kishimoto. He started drawing basic anime at aged 14. He eventually developed it into a manga book series. A few years later he sold it to Shonen Jump a japenese film company who also produce Bleach and Death Note. His first anime was released and it a huge success in Japan. For my research please check youtube link below.

part - d arts apprenticeship
For my arts apprebticeship I decided to show the CB9 Media group how to draw an anime eye with the wacon pen on Gimp software.
I wanted to share this skill with the group because there are alot of people here interested in anime and manga.
The workshop included
-showing different tools how to draw outlines
-add colour
-erase colour and lines
-save the image
We only have one wacom pad and pen here so we had to share a computer. I demonstrated first with a drwaing of an eye. Then each person had a go.
The feedback I got was positive. "inventive" "interesting" Insightful"!
I think I would do the workshop like this again and it would be great to do at an event if we were promoting the CB9 Hubclub as it is simple but effective.
Here is an example of an anime eye from the workshopMy final thoughts 'bout the arts award
